Event Venue in Antioquia: Weddings, Retreats and Celebrations at the Foot of Cerro Tusa

There comes a moment when the city's noise stops being background and turns into a wall. You are planning a celebration: a wedding, a birthday that deserves to be remembered, a team off-site that needs more than a room with a projector. What you are really after is a place that lets the air in. Real sky. Room for everyone.

La Juana Cerro Tusa is that place.

Two hours from Medellín, in the heart of Venecia (Antioquia), this event venue in Antioquia pairs wide open-air spaces with the warmth of a countryside house that knows how to host. No plaster moldings, no starched tablecloths. Just grass, a pool, the shade of a guayacán tree and, in the distance, the sharp silhouette of Cerro Tusa.

If you are still deciding between options, get a feel for the place in the photo gallery, or read about the luxury farmhouse experience from the inside.

Why choose an event venue in Antioquia?

Antioquia has a healthy obsession with celebrations. We, the Antioqueños, know that an event is not just about gathering people: it is about building the stage where memorable things happen. A finca for large groups offers what no closed ballroom can. Kids can run. Adults can talk without raising their voices. The music plays without bothering a single neighbor.

At La Juana, that experience multiplies. The grounds are laid out so guests never feel crowded or lost. There are separate zones for eating, dancing, resting and exploring, all connected by dirt paths and gardens that invite you to walk barefoot.

What a finca gives you that a ballroom can't:

  • Real air and real space. No air conditioning. Kids run, adults breathe deep, and the celebration feels alive.
  • A sunset that cannot be rented. As guests arrive, the sun drops behind Cerro Tusa. No amount of decoration buys that.
  • Total flexibility. Want guests to arrive on Friday? Keep the party going until morning? On a finca, time bends to your plan, not the other way around.
  • Privacy. No front desk, no other events crossing paths in the hallways. The finca is yours for the celebration.

Capacity and spaces: how many guests fit?

When people ask about an event venue in Antioquia, capacity is usually the first question. La Juana is built for medium and large groups:

Type of eventRecommended capacityIdeal space
Civil wedding / receptionUp to 60 guestsMain garden + terrace
Birthday / family celebrationUp to 50 guestsPool area + grill zone
Corporate retreat / team buildingUp to 40 peopleLarge hall + green areas
Group day out in the countrysideUp to 60 peoplePool, green areas, bonfire

The key to La Juana: the spaces do not compete with each other. While some dance on the terrace, others talk around the pool and the youngest ones explore the garden. Everyone coexists without getting in anyone's way.

La Juana's spaces for your event

Every celebration deserves its own natural stage. The finca offers several environments, each ready for a different moment of the event.

The main garden — for the ceremony or the toast

An open space with a direct view of Cerro Tusa. Well-kept lawn, regional flowers and enough natural shade to keep guests comfortable. This is where we set up the altar, the dance floor or just the long tables for a countryside lunch.

The pool and the chill-out zone

After the ceremony, or between retreat activities, the pool is the natural magnet. Surrounded by deck and loungers, it works as the social heart of the event. Perfect for weddings in the dry season (December to March, July to August), when the heat begs for a dip between the aperitif and the main course.

The covered terrace — main dining room

Roofed but open on the sides, it connects inside with outside. This is where the food is served, where the cake table goes up, where the buffet finds its home. It seats 40 guests comfortably, and it is the spot where the event turns intimate without losing touch with the landscape.

The bonfire and the night zone

When night falls and the music turns down, the bonfire becomes the center of the conversations that actually matter. Chairs in a circle, regional coffee, and the sky above Venecia, so dark that the stars look nothing like the ones you see in the city.

Catering: the Antioquian flavor your guests will remember

A celebration without good food is just a meeting. At La Juana, catering is designed around each event and the taste of the guests.

Options available:

  • Traditional Antioquian menu: bandeja paisa, chicken sancocho, mondongo, chócolo arepas with butter and hogao.
  • Grill option: aged meats, Antioquian chorizo, morcilla, salted potatoes, guacamole.
  • Light option (ideal for retreats): fresh salads, grilled proteins, vegetarian options, natural juices from the region.
  • Cocktails and appetizers: to welcome guests as they arrive, with local flavors like coconut lemonade, guarapo, empanadas and cheese sticks.

Want to bring your own caterer? That works too. The finca provides the kitchen setup so your provider can work comfortably, or you can book the service we recommend directly: local cooks from the vereda who know the craft by heart.

Use cases: what kind of events work best?

Civil and intimate weddings

The wedding that starts as guests arrive while the sun hides behind Cerro Tusa. Civil ceremony in the garden, toast on the terrace, dinner under warm lights, and a dance floor that wakes up when night falls. The couple can stay overnight, because the finca has rooms and the honeymoon can start the same night.

Best for: couples who want an authentic wedding, without the ritual of traditional venues, where guests feel part of something real.

Birthdays and family celebrations

Milestone birthdays (15, 30, 50, 70), anniversaries, baptisms, first communions. The finca lets several generations share time without anyone getting bored: kids in the pool, adults at the grill, grandparents on the terrace with the view.

Corporate retreats and team building

More and more companies in Medellín are looking for a finca for large groups where they can run strategic planning, team integration or simply a different kind of day. La Juana offers:

  • A large hall for working sessions (with WiFi)
  • Green areas for group dynamics
  • A pool for the bonding moment
  • A night bonfire to close the day with honest conversations
  • Executive lunch or grill-style catering

Best for: companies of 20 to 40 people that want to take the team out of the routine without going too far from Medellín. For a lighter plan, there is the day-by-the-pool option.

Day trips with friends

The classic Antioquian plan: arrive in the morning, pool, lunch, music, a nap in the hammock, and back home before sunset. No complications, no heavy logistics. Just the group, the finca and the mountain.

What about accommodation?

If your event runs late, as weddings, retreats and birthdays with drinks tend to do, the question is inevitable: where do the guests stay?

La Juana offers group lodging, limited but enough for the hosts and the closest guests. The rooms have a countryside style: comfortable beds, clean bedding, private bathroom, and the peace of waking up to the roosters and the view of the mountain.

Those who do not stay can head back to Medellín in about two hours by the southern road. It is in good condition and the drive is safe.

How to get a quote for your event

Every event is different. La Juana does not work with fixed rates because we believe every celebration deserves its own design. What we can tell you:

  • Included: exclusive use of the finca during the agreed hours, pool, green areas, parking, equipped kitchen, bathrooms, and host support.
  • Not included (booked separately): catering, decoration, extra furniture (additional tables and chairs), sound, photography, transportation.
  • Reference price: the finca is rented by groups, not per person. For the whole finca (6 rooms, up to 16 people) the reference is from $2,800,000 COP per night; a day event is quoted according to group size, duration and the services you choose.

To request a personalized quote: the price adjusts to the type of event, the season and the services you need. No two celebrations at La Juana are the same. Send us your dates through the contact page and we will take it from there.

Frequently asked questions about events at La Juana

How long does the rental last for an event?

It depends on the celebration. For weddings and birthdays, the typical window is 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Corporate retreats can run from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Overnight stays have check-in at 3:00 p.m. and check-out at 12:00 p.m.

Is music and sound allowed?

Yes. The finca has basic sound equipment, and you can bring your own amplification. Music is allowed until 10:00 p.m., out of respect for the neighbors of the vereda.

Is there parking for guests?

Yes. The finca has parking for around 15 vehicles at the entrance. There is an extended parking option for large events, with prior coordination.

Are decorations and setups allowed?

Yes. You can bring your own decorator or do it yourself. We only ask that you do not nail anything to the trees and avoid materials that leave residue on the grass. Trash is separated and disposed of responsibly.

What if it rains? Is there a plan B?

Antioquia is unpredictable. La Juana has covered zones, including the main terrace, the covered dining area and an indoor hall, that work as backup without the event losing its essence.

What makes La Juana different as an event venue in Antioquia?

There are many fincas in Antioquia. Why pick this one for your event?

Because La Juana does not feel like an event hall dressed up as a farm. It is a real finca: the smell of wet earth, the hens walking around the back, the cook who prepares food with recipes she learned from her grandmother. Guests notice. The celebration becomes more authentic because the place is.

And because it sits in the shadow of Cerro Tusa. No decoration competes with that view. If you want to make the most of your days here beyond the event, check the things to do in Venecia Antioquia guide, or go for the Sacred Ascent tour as a full day out.

How to get there from Medellín

La Juana Cerro Tusa is in the municipality of Venecia, Antioquia, about 2 hours by the southern road (Medellín–La Pintada highway, turnoff to Venecia). The road is around 95% paved and accessible for any vehicle.

The first step for your celebration

The best celebration is not the most expensive or the most elaborate. It is the one that happens in the right place, with the right people, with nothing standing between the moment and the memory.

La Juana Cerro Tusa exists for that.

Request information or book a date: the finca is happy to hear from you, to tell you about availability, show you the space (in person or virtually) and help you design the event you have in mind. If you are still weighing options, glamping at Cerro Tusa is a lighter, equally memorable alternative.
